The Rhodes Scholarships

The purpose of this brochure is to inform prospective applicants and their advisors about the special character of the Rhodes Scholarships and the opportunities for study which they provide in one of the world’s most ancient and distinguished universities. For convenience, the discussion is divided into three parts. The first provides a brief sketch of the history of the Rhodes Scholarships; the second describes Oxford’s approach to learning; and the third discusses the procedures for application, criteria for selection, and the selection process in the United States.

An Appendix provides the following information: a statement of the worldwide distribution of the Rhodes Scholarships; a table showing the States of the Union grouped into the sixteen Districts formed for the purpose of electing Rhodes Scholars in the United States; and a list of Oxford colleges, with dates of foundation. Publications useful for further information are also listed.

The Rhodes Trust and Oxford University require that selection for a Scholarship and for admission to the University will be without regard to marital status, race, ethnic origin, colour, religion, sexual orientation, social background, or disability.

Scholarships for Undergraduates, Graduates, and PhD students
The Heinrich Böll Foundation grants scholarships to approximately 1,000 undergraduates, graduates, and PhD students of all subjects and nationalities per year, who are pursuing their degree at universities, universities of applied sciences (‘Fachhochschulen’), or universities of the arts (‘Kunsthochschulen”). We expect our scholarship recipients to have excellent academic records, to be socially and politically engaged, and to have an active interest in the basic values of the foundation: ecology and sustainability, democracy and human rights, self determination and justice (further information about the scholarship department, pdf, 564 KB).

Next Application Deadlines

A) By 1 September 2011 (postmarked) applications can submitted by:

1. German students and students who have received their university entrance qualification from a German school (‘Bildungsinländer_innen’) and are pursuing their FIRST university degree

* all subjects; university, university of applied sciences (‘Fachhochschule”), or university of the arts (Kunsthochschule)
* degrees: Bachelor’s, Diploma or State Examination

• You can apply for a scholarship before your begin your studies or within the first three semesters (at the time of application).
• We especially encourage first-generation students, students with a migrant background and students at universities of applied sciences (‘Fachhochschulen”).

2. German students and students who have received their university entrance qualification from a German school (‘Bildungsinländer_innen’) and are studying a MINT subject (mathematics, informatics, natural sciences, or technical subjects), especially with an environmental focus (e.g. climate studies, renewable energies etc.)

* all subjects; university or university of applied sciences (‘Fachhochschule”)
* degree: Master’s (you must already have obtained a first university degree)

• You can apply before you begin your Master’s programme or within the first semester (at the time of application).

3. Students from the EU (regional focus: Central and Eastern Europe)

* all subjects; university, university of applied sciences (‘Fachhochschule”), or university the arts (‘Kunsthochschule)
* degree: Master’s (you must already have obtained a first university degree)

• You can apply before you begin your Master’s programme or within the first semester (at the time of application).
• Proficiency in German is a requirement.

4. Doctoral students from Germany or the EU (regional focus: Central and Eastern Europe)

* all subjects

• Applicants must provide proof that they have been accepted as a doctoral student by a German institution of higher education.
• Preference will be given to dissertation projects related to the working areas of the Heinrich Böll Foundation.
• Proficiency in German is a requirement.

B) By 1 March 2012 (postmarked) applications can be submitted by:

1. German students and students who have received their university entrance qualification from a German school (‘Bildungsinländer_innen’) pursuing their FIRST university degree

* all subjects; university, university of applied sciences (‘Fachhochschule’), or university of the arts (‘Kunsthochschule’)

5. Doctoral students coming from countries outside the EU wishing to do their PhD studies in Germany (regional focus: Central and Eastern Europe, CIS, Middle East, conflict regions around the globe)

* all subjects

• Applicants must provide proof that they have been accepted as a doctoral student by a German institution of higher education.

College Scholarships and Grants

The rising costs of a college education have made some feel that postsecondary degrees are a luxury. There is no need to see things this way as help is there for those who need it. College scholarships and grants are readily available to students willing to do the research and pay attention to the regulations.
Grant and scholarship providers set their own rules about who can and cannot apply, and students should not waste their time applying for scholarships and grants for which they are not eligible. Finding college scholarships and grants with eligibility criteria you meet is key to receiving awards. Don't ever cross your fingers hoping the provider won't notice that you didn't follow one tiny little rule. The more applications providers receive, the more likely they are to toss aside those of students who don't match their target profile, no matter how good the essay or project. Here are some important details students should pay attention to before sending out their applications.

Deadlines

Be sure to check the deadlines of college scholarships and grants before beginning the necessary work. Providers know the deadlines well; it's tough to fool them. It's best to apply early in the case that materials get lost or misplaced, but if you can't help but ship things priority mail the night before they are due, at least make sure you have the dates straight. Do the applications have to be in by the deadline or must they be postmarked by the deadline? If you don't know, call and ask. These details can make all the difference.

Age

It may not always seem fair, but rules are rules. If your scholarship of interest is restricted to high school seniors who turn 18 by December 1st and you're a high school senior who turns 18 on the 2nd, don't waste your time. For whatever reason, the provider has set these rules, and there's no use in spending your time on such awards. Myriad college scholarships and grants are out there, ones that you are qualified to receive. Spelling and Grammar

Orthography is the unwritten criterion. Depending on the scholarship provider and the targeted group of students, reviewers may be more or less lenient on this issue. If the scholarship is restricted to science students with exceptional research experience, mediocre, or even substandard, writers may catch a break. The same may not be true for scholarships offered to students who major in English or history. Regardless of major, at least perfect your spelling. Conduct a computer spell check and reread your application a few times. Finally, have someone with a good, critical eye proof-read it. It is often difficult to spot one's own errors and there are some things that "spellcheck" won't catch. Remember that computers can't fix everything. Write isn't always right.

Everything Else

The above are just examples of things you should look over. Many providers don't stop there when it comes to eligibility criteria. Some only award college scholarships and grants to students who major in specific subjects, have parents who work for a particular company, attend a particular school, etc. Before taking the time to send out anything, be sure that you qualify. Opportunities made for people with your qualifications are bound to be available. Set your sights on these instead.

Pembelian Formulir

Pembayaran formulir dilakukan mulai 16-20 Juni 2008, dapat dilakukan melalui:

ATM Bank Mandiri di semua tempat;
E-Banking Mandiri;
Loket khusus di Grha Sanusi Hardjadinata (Aula) Kampus Unpad Jl. Dipatiukur No. 35 Bandung

Setelah melakukan pembayaran, calon peserta dapat menukarkan tanda bukti pembelian/setor/resi/struk dengan Formulir Pendaftaran Seleksi. Pembayaran dapat diwakilkan dan harus dibayar tunai. Uang yang telah disetorkan ke bank tidak dapat diminta kembali dengan alasan apapun.
Khusus bagi penyandang tuna netra yang ingin mengikuti seleksi, pembelian dan pengembalian formulir dilaksanakan di sekretariat panitia, Gedung Labtek V ITB dan didampingi oleh pendamping.
Penukaran Formulir (boleh diwakilkan) dilaksanakan di Loket Tim Pengedaran Formulir di Grha Sanusi Hardjadinata (Aula) Kampus Unpad Jl. Dipatiukur No. 35 Bandung, mulai jam 08.00-15.00 WIB (pada hari Sabtu tetap dilayani).
Bagi peserta ujian yang memilih kelompok IPA saja atau kelompok IPS saja biaya mengikuti ujian Rp 150.000,- (seratus lima puluh ribu rupiah). Bagi peserta ujian yang memilih kelompok IPC (campuran IPA & IPS) biaya mengikuti ujian Rp 175.000,- (seratus tujuh puluh lima ribu rupiah).
Setiap peserta yang memenuhi persyaratan, dapat mengikuti kelompok IPA, IPS atau kelompok IPC dan tidak tergantung pada jurusan SMA-nya.
Berkas Pendaftaran terdiri atas :

a) Buku Panduan Peserta SNM PTN 2008

b) Formulir Pendaftaran (Kartu Komputer)

Berkas Pendaftaran harus dibawa pada saat pengembalian, dimasukan dalam map yang disediakan panitia.
Pelajari dan ikuti petunjuk yang terdapat dalam formulir pendaftaran (Kartu Komputer) kemudian isilah formulir pendaftaran dengan menggunakan pensil 2B di rumah. (formulir pendaftaran tidak boleh kotor, robek atau terlipat)
Perhatikan persyaratan umum dan khusus Universitas/Institut/Fakultas/Jurusan pilihan anda.

PEMESANAN KOLEKTIF

Proses pemesanan Formulir Pendaftaran SNMPTN 2008 dapat dilakukan secara kolektif, dengan cara:

Pemesanan kolektif dilayani untuk minimal 15 (lima belas) formulir untuk setiap pemesanan, kurang dari jumlah tersebut dipersilakan membeli secara perorangan;
Pemesanan kolektif hanya diperuntukkan bagi lulusan tahun 2008, disertai Daftar Nama Siswa sesuai form terlampir dan dalam softcopy format ms excel (bentuk disket/CD) yang dibawa pada saat pemesanan, yang dikoordinir oleh Sekolah mulai tanggal 9-14 Juni 2008.
Pembayaran kolektif hanya melalui Bank Mandiri;
Pengambilan pesanan Formulir dilayani mulai tanggal 17- 21 Juni 2008.
Nama calon peserta yang terdaftar dalam formulir kolektif/disket/CD harus sesuai dengan nama dalam ijazah/Kartu Ujian/Surat Tanda Lulus/Buku Rapor, dan tidak boleh diganti dengan nama lain;
Tidak melayani pemesanan Formulir Pendaftaran secara kolektif bagi lulusan tahun 2006 dan 2007, atau titipan dari sekolah lain, maupun kelompok bimbingan belajar.
Pelayanan pemesanan dilakukan di Graha Sanusi Hardjadinata (aula) Unpad, Jl. Dipati Ukur 35 dari pukul 08.00-14.00

PILIHAN PROGRAM STUDI

Program Studi yang ada di Perguruan Tinggi Negeri dibagi menjadi 2 (dua) kelompok yaitu Kelompok IPA dan Kelompok IPS.
Setiap peserta ujian kelompok IPA dapat memilih paling banyak 2 (dua) program studi kelompok IPA.
Setiap peserta ujian kelompok IPS dapat memilih paling banyak 2 (dua) program studi kelompok IPS.
Setiap peserta ujian kelompok IPC dapat memilih paling banyak 3 (tiga) dengan catatan sedikitnya 1 (satu) program studi kelompok IPA dan 1 (satu) program studi kelompok IPS.
Urutan pilihan Program Studi merupakan prioritas pemilihan.
Peserta yang hanya memilih 1 (satu) program studi saja diperbolehkan memilih program studi dari PTN di wilayah mana saja.
Peserta ujian yang memilih 2 (dua) program studi atau lebih, salah satu program studi tersebut harus merupakan program studi dari PTN yang berada dalam satu wilayah dengan tempat peserta mengambil formulir pendaftaran. Pilihan yang lain dapat merupakan program studi dari PTN di wilayah mana saja.

Pengembalian Formulir

Formulir Pendaftaran yang telah diisi dengan benar, teliti dan lengkap dilengkapi dengan berbagai persyaratan yang ditentukan, dikembalikan (tidak dapat diwakilkan) sesuai jadwal yang tercantum/tercetak pada setiap map formulir dengan berpakaian rapih (berkemeja) dan bersepatu.

Pengembalian Formulir Pendaftaran dilaksanakan:

Lulusan 2006 & 2007 tanggal 20-21 Juni 2008 (sesuai jadwal yang tertera pada map pendaftaran)
Lulusan 2008 tanggal 23-28 Juni 2008 (sesuai jadwal yang tertera pada map pendaftaran)
Pengembalian Kelompok IPA di Terowongan Sasana Budaya Ganesha ITB, Jl. Taman Sari No. 73 Bandung
Pengembalian Kelompok IPS & IPC di Gedung Serba Guna (GSG) ITB, Jl. Ganesha No. 10 Bandung

Persyaratan yang harus dibawa seperti tertera pada persyaratan:

Tanda tangan pada Kartu Peserta dilakukan di hadapan Panitia Lokal dengan menggunakan alat tulis yang disediakan Panitia;
Dokumen yang akan diambil oleh Panitia Lokal adalah Formulir Pendaftaran terisi, bukti hadir SNMPTN, fotokopi ijazah/STL;
Dokumen yang diterima oleh peserta meliputi: ijazah asli atau STL, Tanda Pengenal Kartu Tanda Peserta Ujian yang telah ditandatangani oleh Panitia yang mencantumkan tanggal, dan tempat ujian SNMPTN 2008.

Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB)

Sistem Pendidikan

Sistem Pendidikan di ITB terdiri dari tiga tahap atau strata, yaitu:

Sarjana atau Strata-1 (S1) yang dirancang selesai dalam 4 tahun dengan gelar Sarjana Teknik, Sarjana Sains, dan Sarjana Seni.
Magister atau Strata-2 (S2) yang dirancang selesai dalam 2 tahun dengan gelar Magister Teknik, Magister Manajemen, Magister Sain dan Magister Seni.
Doktor atau Strata-3 (S3) yang dirancang selesai dalam 3 tahun dengan gelar Doktor.

Pendidikan Program Sarjana di ITB mempunyai beban sekurang-kurangnya 144 SKS dan sebanyak-banyaknya 160 SKS yang terbagi dalam:

Tahap Persiapan Bersama dengan beban minimal 36 (tiga puluh enam) SKS.
Tahap Sarjana Muda dengan beban minimal 72 (tujuh puluh dua) SKS.
Tahap Sarjana dengan beban minimal 36 (tiga puluh enam) SKS.

Mahasiswa Program Sarjana yang menunjukkan prestasi akademik tinggi dapat memilih untuk mengikuti pendidikan Program Magister sebagai bagian yang menyatu dengan Program Sarjana. Lulusan pendidikan Program Sarjana dengan prestasi akademik tinggi dapat memilih untuk mengikuti Program Doktor secara langsung. Jika tidak ada bagian atau persyaratan Program Magister yang harus dipenuhi maka bagian atau persyaratan tersebut menjadi bagian yang menyatu dengan Program Doktor.

Pendidikan Program Magister adalah kelanjutan linear Program Sarjana, atau merupakan interaksi beberapa disiplin ilmu yang terbentuk sesuai dengan perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan atau tuntutan kebutuhan. Pendidikan Program Magister setelah Program Sarjana mempunyai beban sekurang-kurangnya 36 (tiga puluh enam) SKS dan sebanyak-banyaknya 50 (lima puluh) SKS.

Pendidikan Program Doktor setelah Program Magister mempunyai beban SKS yang ditentukan oleh Program Pascasarjana sesuai dengan ketentuan yang berlaku.

Puji Syukur kita haturkan kepada Tuhan Yang Maha Esa karena berkat Rahmat dan AnugerahNya, Sekolah Tingg Penerbangan Indonesia telah memasuki usia yang ke 55 semenjak berdirinya tahun 1952, dan berumur 7 tahun pada tahun 2007 ini semenjak dikukuhkannya sebagai Sekolah Tinggi melalui Keputusan Presiden Nomor 43 tahun 2000.

Selama kurun waktu lebih dari setengah abad, Sekolah Tingg Penerbangan Indonesia telah berperan aktif dalam usaha mencerdaskan bangsa dengan mendidik dan mencetak tenaga ahli di bidang penerbangan sipil dalam berbagai profesi, seperti : Penerbang, Pemandu Lalu Lintas Udara, Ahli Teknik Pesawat Terbang dan Teknisi Penerbangan lainnya.

Di era globalisasi ini arus informasi semakin mudah diakses melalui berbagai media, yang salah satunya adalah internet. Hal ini berdampak pada semakin ketatnya persaingan dalam bebagai bidang, termasuk bidang pendidikan.

Oleh karena itu, Sekolah Tingg Penerbangan Indonesia berupaya untuk meningkatkan pelayanan dan fasilitas agar masyarakat luas dapat mengenal dan lebih mudah mendapatkan gambaran dan informasi mengenai Sekolah Tinggi Penerbangan Indonesia.

INTRODUCTION AND MISSION STATEMENT

1965 To Present

Avex Air Training (Pty) Ltd. was founded in the early 1960's as a flying training organisation. In the ensuing years it became one of South Africa's largest general aviation companies. It owned/operated more than sixty aircraft involved in flying training, charter, crop spraying, aerial survey, maintenance and aircraft sales.

The 1980's saw the beginning of Avex's diversification. Avex became a distributor of technical information and standards products. Avex represents such diverse entities as Aerad Flight Guides, Jeppesen Navigation Products, Jane's Information Group, United States FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), Aircraft Technical Publishers, and Information Handling Services.

Avex continued to diversify in the 1990's when the tool division was founded. Avex Tools has become a leading distributor of aerospace tool products on behalf of companies such as U.S Air Tool Company, Eastern Technologies, Cooper Tools, and Recoules. In addition, Avex supplies the motor assembly and allied industries with specialised torque control assembly line production equipment from Cooper Tools. General engineering requirements are met through distribution of product lines such as Cromwell Tools, Geta, Apex, Allen, Armstrong, Gear-Wench, Norbar, CiLight, and Bianditz etc.

The operations and management of aircraft on behalf of individuals and companies has become a growing part of Avex business in the new millennium. The company has also acquired a shareholding in Premier Bolt and Engineering Supplies (Pty) Ltd and Phambile Fasteners (Pty) Ltd.

Avex's administrative head office is in Spartan (Kempton Park). Other branches/flying operations are conducted at Sebenza (Edenvale), Newton Park (Port Elizabeth), Grand Central Airport (Midrand), Rand Airport (Germiston), and Johannesburg International Airport.

The directors of the company are: D.C Chandler, C.E Chandler, D.J Nasmith, R.M Chandler and I.J Steer.
